Homemade lemonade is such a wonderfully refreshing drink when the weather is hot, but lemons are good for so much more than that.
I always start my day with a glass of water with a slice of lemon in it to wake me up and get me ready for the day ahead, and a few drops of lemon essential oil in a diffuser can be a great ‘pick me up’ if you start to feel sluggish during the day. But the wonderful uses of this fruit do not end there.
Microwave Cleaner – Place a few slices of lemon into a mug of water and heat in the microwave for a couple of minutes. Then just easily wipe away all the baked on food from inside the microwave.
Limescale Remover – Run draining boards, taps and showerheads with lemon juice. Leave for about 10 minutes and then rinse off for a limescale free sparkly finish.
Leather Cleaner – Mix a teaspoon of lemon juice with a teaspoon of olive oil and rub onto your leather shoes or belts for a nourishing leather polish.
Cooking Rice – Add a couple of teaspoons of lemon juice to the pan of rice when cooking to prevent the rice from sticking.
Household Bug Repellant – Grate or chop some lemon peel and place into a muslin or organzer bag. Hang by open windows to help keep bugs at bay.
Digestive Health – Lemon juice helps to purify the blood, reduces your chances of indigestion, constipation, eliminates toxins from the body, adds digestion and reduces phlegm.
So don’t let this wonderful fruit just sit in your fridge, set it to work all over your house!
